A method for literacy activities
Here is a method, with 4 stages of learning, which you can teach your children. These actions for literacy activities will positively improve your children's literacy abilities. The 4 rungs to the success ladder are; 1) Whatever you are LEARNING 2) Take action STEPS 3) Ask, do you KNOW IT? 4) Do what WORKS 1) Learning There are many areas that your child will need to learn and School provides an environment in which children work hard and of course this includes literacy activities.. Unfortunately, children are not so motivated to learn and do literacy activities in the home environment. When you ask your children to do work at home similar to that which they do at school there is often a very negative reaction. Why? Because they want to do something else. The one thing that children must do outside of school if you and they want to be successful is homework. So at least there is some motivation for children to do this. To get your children to do more can therefore be difficult. So how do we help you to overcome this problem? The answer is that the work has to be more interesting and more fun. Think of the things that you can ask them to do that makes it unlike schoolwork. Do work on things that they are interested in whether this is sport, television or even computer games. These can all be used for literacy activitiesPlease do suspend your own judgment of what constitutes work, particularly academic work. Your children's world outside of school provides a massive resource that can be drawn on for literacy activities. Remember this; YOU CAN IMPROVE YOUR CHILD'S LITERACY DRAMATICALLY WITHOUT DOING SCHOOLWORK BY DOING FUN LITERACY ACTIVITIES.2) Action Steps In taking action to improve literacy the way to do this effectively and to maintain motivation is to have your children do the literacy activities little and often. 3) Do they know it? To see how your children are progressing, you need to test. Though this sounds like it might be complicated it's not, all you have to do is ask your children to speak about what they know. The really important thing is to get them to speak about what they do know, don't be focused too much on what they don't know. The secret to improved literacy is creating a habit in your children so that they do these literacy activities over and over again. There is no failure, there are only results. The testing process is about gaining feedback and learning fast seeing what can be improved on next time during literacy activities. 3) Do what works To conclude; Everyone has their own style and preferred method of learning during literacy activities. To create success and improvement outside of school the focus needs to be on doing what works for your children and helping your children develop the good habit of doing these literacy activities. Use this method to really improve and learn more from all literacy activities.
